Okay, I have to admit. A few months ago, I wasn't really sure what a blog was and why someone would need one. Could this be a sign of aging? Yet, they tell me that as a pre-adoptive parent I am very "young," so go figure! We are going to use this blog to keep everyone up to date on what's going on with the adoption and it will be especially nice when we finally do go to Russia to get information out quickly.
As of right now, we turned in our dossier (a.k.a. stack of papers a mile high that Russia requires to get the adoption rolling) the beginning of December, 2007. However, we made the decision to adopt last summer, so to us, it feels like it's been close to a year already. The actual wait doesn't start until you submit the dossier, though. There were months and months of hoops to jump through before we could submit that and then "the waiting game" began.
We are adopting a little girl, if you can't tell from all of the pink on the blog. Blogger.com sent me a note telling me we used it all up, but I think they were kidding. Everyone wants to know when we will get "the call." Yes, we would like to know the same thing. If we only had a crystal ball!
We will make 2 trips to Russia. The first is to meet the baby and the second is to go to court. All told, we will spend 2-3 weeks in Russia. Mom will be keeping our son as he thinks Florida is too far to travel on a plane, let alone Russia.
So, we are waiting for "the call" to go to Russia...Hello, hello, is this phone working?
